The new Leitz THALIA optics are specially designed for the new large sensors. The set of 6 objectives contains the focal points 30, 35, 45, 70, 100 & 180mm.

Leitz Thalia lenses offer a cinematic look and appearance across the entire range of focal lengths, with an image diameter of 60 mm. The lenses are incredibly light and compact with an outside diameter of 95 mm, are available in PL mount and have the i / technology implemented. These lenses offer a large image circle that covers up to the sensor of the ARRI ALEXA 65, but can also be used to create equally impressive images on VistaVision and Super 35 sensors and photographic films.

The innovative iris design of Leica’s Thalia lenses maintains a circular iris through all the opening stops, creating a cinematic bokeh that comes alive with character. Out of focus elements maintain their structure, which further increases the sense of dimensionality in the image.

While Leitz’s Thalia lenses are not technically vintage lenses, they offer many of the imaging features that have led cinematographers to use old lenses with digital sensors. They are clear without being too sharp, and the approach is smooth and moderate without looking too soft. Skin tones look natural and soft with accurate color reproduction.

Images captured with Leitz’s Thalia lenses seem to have added depth and dimensionality, especially on larger sensors, due to a gradual approach that deviates from the curve. Instead of flat layers of focus on the frame, Leith Thalia optics have a slight curve that makes the image stand out, as it is simultaneously more consistent with human vision and distinct from most images created with modern lenses.
